!!Caution!! - If you are one of those who gets offended easily or can't take ones opinion then I suggest you do not read this. I have no intention of offending anyone, but I feel parts of this may do that. I just want to add, the music I have a rant about in this blog I do actually like, but I feel it is not intended for this island. So firstly, I just want to say how much I LOVE Ibiza. Back in the early naughties I visited here for the first time. It has been the home to many amazing memories, both for holidaying and also DJing. The feeling that I get when I arrive on this beautiful white isle fills me with feelings of joy and inner peace. Don't get me wrong, Ibiza still is as beautiful as always, especially when you are exploring, or enjoying a cold Corona on the world famous sunset strip. In regards to this part, nothing has changed. You still get the same overwhelming feeling watching the sun set for another day, with tranquil background music right up until the sun shines its last edge on the horizon. Then, the sounds of deep house blare from the speakers in all the sunset bars whilst, thousands cheer and clap on the beach celebrating another day ending. This is by far, always going to be one of my favorite spots of San Antonio. It's what happens after I leave this spot.

Now let me just remind you what this world famous club scene is known for: It is the island of Balearic sounds, the dance sounds that make the floor jump! DJs and crowds flock from all edges of the globe to see the worlds best DJs playing in some of the best clubs in the world and you go there for the feeling that is connected with most dance music genres....The feeling of togetherness. This island was a land of Peace, Love and Unity. It was the original Love Island & much better than the televised series of ego and fake tan, portraying a false vision of what woman and men should look and act like. (Sorry, rant over). However, I am sad to say that this feeling is no longer the same. Upon speaking to many locals, many business owners have sold up and moved. Bars and clubs have switched hands and from what I was told, its mainly because the atmosphere has changed. There is a huge increase in violent crime within tourists visiting the island. THIS IS NOT WHAT IBIZA IS ABOUT! I remember going up their West End and after every bar you would hear a different sound of house. Moving further up hearing deep, tech, electro and even trance from a few of the bars up there. Do you know what I hear there now? RnB, Regaeton, Hip Hop! NO, NO, NO, NO, NO! Really? Come on, Ibiza! Sorry, but you have sold out in regards to this famous strip of bars and pubs. You know this is not right! Every club is playing the same urban songs! Now let me make this clear, I actually quite like these styles of music to listen to, but not in Ibiza. People go to the dance music capital for a reason. I know people will say that they have to keep up with the styles, but not like this. People go to ibiza knowing that they are going to see famous Dance Music DJ's from around the world. Not to listen to Shake your ass urban. You didn't need to allow this change. The feeling of safety and love is no longer there. Instead, you have music which is purely about Sex and Drugs. With people trying their best to copy this twit style of dancing. When most of them look like they are a landscape pneumatic drill on steroids. This music is great in its own ways and still took the same amount of effort producing as any other, but it simply does not belong in Ibiza. The locals do not even like the people or atmosphere it attracts. The people that come for this music are not there for the love of the music, they are there just to get their ass shaking or an ass in their face and maybe get laid. It used to be a fact that if you got a chance to DJ in Ibiza, you were known as the "Dogs Bollocks". I felt so proud to say I have had the chance to play there, but I am not sure I would feel the same now. The good news is that there are still a few great nights in the Super clubs. I went to Shine in Eden; saw Aly & Fila and Paul Van Dyk and it was EPIC to say the least. I really had a great time up the front, listening to what real mixing sounds like. Which is not something I would find here in the West End anymore. Knowing that even the superclubs are putting on urban nights makes me sad. Call me old fashioned, but I like to feel the good times and enjoy life and I am not alone with these thoughts: This has come from convo's with local bar owners, taxi drivers and other tourists that remember the good old days. I'm sad to say, just as the locals did, I may stay away from Ibiza for a while, at least San Antonio anyway. Maybe Ibiza town is the place to go now? It's safe to say I feel the West End has become a commercial, everyday club bore. Like I said, nothing against those of you that like Urban music, as do I, but keep it in Ayia Napa. Please bring Ibiza back to its former glory! I know things go in circles, so let's hope it can redeem itself to its once world famous love island.
